What began as a mere "diary" side project - with LUCKY #1 - had utterly overtaken her "more serious work" by #2 as Gabrielle obsessively chronicled every detail of her life, picking the most eventful aspect of the day, in a deliberate honesty not seen since Eddie Campbell's early ALEC comics. Strings of anecdotes about situations with Miss Bell in the centre, unwilling participator and witness to the absurdity of her life. Wry observations on the everyday mundane are propelled by a strange "plot". Seemingly constant apartment swapping between herself and her boyfriend "Tom" and the frustrations brewed from teaching art to bratty kids and posing nude in classes she should be taking are tinged with the surreal.

Bell's art often displays what her abstract narration and dry cheek dictates, reminiscent of Woody Allen's stand in, Alvy, breaking the fourth wall in the line to the cinema in Annie Hall.
