Page 45 Review by Tom

Originally syndicated in a Japanese music magazine this is Mizuno's first comic work, to my knowledge, and it's even more mental then her fairytale parodies. Set in the far flung future where humans have moved from the Earth's irradiated surface to underground cities, food is scarce so artificial substitutes are made: small tablets called Pure Trance. Just one is the equivalent of a meal, but they're just so tasty no-one can stop eating them, causing an epidemic of eating disorders! Kaori Suzuki is a nurse attempting to deal with this crisis. It's just a bit difficult to work in a hospital where the director is a homicidal bitch whose hobby is making artificial humans out of garbage and dead rats, getting high on Liquid Apple and humiliating the nurses with, erm, devices! Unlike her other comics this isn't in colour but it more than compensates with its vibrant content.
