Huge collection of Lucy's early comics, if you loved her travelogue FRENCH MILK, then I whole-heartedly demand you read this or gouge your eyes out now, as they serve no purpose without this book. Here, use this spoon!

Compiled during her formative cartooning years at the School Of Art Institute Of Chicago and her beginnings at The Centre For Cartoon Studies, the short stories contained herein range from scrappy auto-bio, slightly wonky attempts at 24-hour comics to fantastic fiction; which having only seen her do autobiographical comics, was really refreshing. The short story BOOKSHOP, about a girl's last few days working for a soon-to-be-out-of-business used book store, was reminiscent of Megan Kelso's mini-comics. Not just artistically but in the romantic, philanthropic theme as the girl, Tamara, allowed to rescue three books a day from the ailing shop, covertly passes them on to people in her neighbourhood. Towards the end of the collection (which I'm assuming is ordered chronologically), Lucy begins to talk about food more and more, evolving her style into what she polished up at TCFCS.
