Page 45 Review by Tom

Now, I like Andi Watson's recent stuff, but I loved SKELETON KEY and this is so similar not just artistically but in its theme as well. The dedication in the front to "lost best friends" may give some indication as to what I'm alluding to there. Basically, this wins the prize this month for breaking my heart.

Told in three parts it focuses on three summer days, years apart: three strange and magical meetings between a girl named Hailey and the Salamander.

Lavishly printed in black and green ink, paying attention to the spaces in-between the colours to suggest bright sun light, this is just so fresh to look at. The salamander has a graceful, fluid black body which changes shape from lizard to human in order to play with Hailey. His face is a like a tribal mask: simple, white, the slightest tweak of the mouth or arching of the brow suggesting volumes of expression.
