Page 45 Review by Stephen

From the creative team of Vertigo's MY FAITH IN FRANKIE comes this second book in DC's line aimed primarily at mid-teen young women. Discovering your true self during the course of a karate contest is nothing new, of course, and perhaps I just needed to read something warm and uplifting that morning, but that's what I found here.

Jen Dik Seong - or "Dixie" to her friends - becomes distracted from concentrating properly both on her hapkido (a form of martial arts close to the heart of Koreans), and her responsibilities to herself, her family and her close friend Avril by the oldest one in the book: a big fat crush on a tall, handsome boy. It sets her all off-kilter (great opening chapter title: "Now where did I leave my ki?"!), especially when tall, handsome Adam turns out to be a thoughtless berk, and it threatens to ruin her chances at the local Los Angeles tournament in which Adam too is contending.

The art too made me smile.
