Making A Purchase

Making a purchase is extremely simple. Just browse our store, and add any items that you wish to buy into the Page 45 shopping bag. After you've made your choices, click on 'Checkout' and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to complete the order.

By the way if you can't find what you're looking for on our site please do contact us. We are able to quickly check with our suppliers whether items are indeed in print and available and if so we will order them for you at no extra charge with pleasure.

We do accept card payments. If you are shopping from anywhere outside the United Kingdom, place your order and your card company will convert the transaction to your own currency. We accept Visa and MasterCard and most brands of Credit and Debit card. We do not actually charge your card for any item until it is ready to ship. Backordered items are not charged until they are shipped. If you do not wish to pay online, please contact us to arrange sending us your card information via phone or by post, or to send us a cheque.

Please note we don't accept American Express or Paypal. Sorry!

If you have made a mistake in your order and cannot correct it in the shopping cart, contact us and we will correct the mistake for you with pleasure. Accidents happen and we appreciate that!!

When confirmation of your order is received by you, this is to indicate that we have received your order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you an invoice. We have simply included this term to protect ourselves in the case that a stupid mistake has been made in pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods in a moment of fat-fingered keyboard hammering, or we are no longer able to supply a particular item for some reason, usually because it's permanently out of print. In the case of a price correction, we will always contact you first to ensure that the correct price is acceptable.

With respect to standing orders, that is where you have by telephone, email, post or in person confirmed that you want to pre-order items, either on a one-off or ongoing basis, please be aware we may require you to pay for these items in full even if you subsequently choose to cancel your standing order. It is entirely at our discretion whether or not you will be charged for items you cancel which we have already ordered on your behalf, as typically we cannot cancel the orders we have placed with the distributor for pre-ordered items and thus will have to pay for them ourselves.

If we do not hear from you regarding your accrued standing order for a reasonable period of time, or you do not make payment for your accrued standing order in a reasonable period of time, or you do not reply to reasonable requests by email, phone, post or in person to make payment for your accrued standing order, or we feel that the amount accrued on your standing order has become excessive, we fully reserve the right to open a new transaction using our MOTO agreement with the payment processing provider and the previous transaction details they retain on their secure servers, to charge you in full for your standing order, including the postage required to ship your order to you. We also reserve the right to cancel your standing order, for any reason, including but not limited to the reasons mentioned above, at any time.

With all the above said, we are fully committed to providing a friendly, helpful standing order service, which we do for the vast majority of our wonderful standing order customers. We are however obliged to protect ourselves against those people who choose to abuse the standing order service, either wilfully or by neglect. Please don't put us in a difficult situation. We are happy for people to adjust, amend, change their standing order at any time, including adding and removing titles. We also don't mind people cancelling completely, as long as you actually tell us this is what you are doing, not just disappearing without trace, refusing to respond to phone messages, or emails, or letters. And of course, you may be required to pay for whatever has already been put aside for you when you do cancel. We might choose to say you don't need to pay for any such items, particularly if they are items we think we will be able to sell to someone else, but please be advised that is entirely at our discretion.

Shipping Information

Your order will be lovingly picked and packaged by our own fair hands to ensure it gets to you safely. We use study specialist boxes and lashings of tape on the corners and edges to protect your precious comic cargo from any in-transit buffoonery.

We don't charge anything for handling, all we do is charge exactly whatever postage or shipping cost we incur in getting your order to you based on its weight. As a small business you'll appreciate postage is a significant overhead and unfortunately we have to charge it, but the good news is you can see exactly what it'll cost in terms of postage before you order.

If you are a UK library please make sure you select UK Library Shipping Charges from the Class of Service drop-down as we offer free delivery to UK libraries for orders over £85.00

Members of the general public must ONLY select the relevant standard shipping charge for their country, or indicate that they will collect the item(s) in store. If you do select the UK Library Shipping Charges option and you are NOT a UK library, please be aware your shipping total will be automatically adjusted to the correct amount before your order is processed, and you will incur an administration charge of £2.00

If however you realise you have selected the wrong shipping option by mistake please contact us on 0115 9508045 (+44 115 9508045 for international customers) or at orders@page45.com immediately and we will rectify the mistake for you without an administration charge.

Please note that where you have indicated you would like a split delivery for temporarily out of stock items, we reserve the right to modify your delivery charges accordingly where appropriate. Any delivery charges quoted online are based on a complete single delivery.

If it's a particularly large order, or if you are in some really far flung corner of the globe we'd recommend contacting us so we can show humans are still superior to computers and try and find the cheapest way to send it safely for you ourselves.

Delivery Schedule

Barring unforeseen problems we will ship your goods using a tracked service within two business days of your date of purchase, although we will be aiming to ship them the same day. It just depends on what time of the day you make your purchase and how busy we are! But basically you should receive your goods within 1-3 business days from when you purchased them. (International orders will obviously take longer depending on exactly where on the planet you are.) If you haven't received your order after 5 business days please give us a call so we can check what's happening for you.

You agree that proof of receipt supplied by our delivery company is sufficient evidence to establish that goods have been shipped from Page 45. You also agree that proof of delivery supplied by our delivery company is sufficient evidence to establish that goods have been received by yourselves.

Back Orders Of Temporarily Out Of Stock Items

We do try and keep physical stock of pretty much everything that is for sale on our site, but occasionally items will be temporarily out of stock if some naughty person has bought the last one before you got there. You will be able to see what items are temporarily out of stock before you purchase. Usually these products get automatically re-stocked from our suppliers on a weekly basis, so in theory the longest we should be out of stock of any given item is a week, but it's usually less than that.

If it's an individual item you've ordered that's temporarily out of stock, then we will ship it to you as soon as we receive it. If the temporarily out of stock item or items are part of a larger order, you'll need to tell us whether to wait for that item or items to come in before we ship the whole order, or whether to ship the items we have in stock and wait for the remainder on a back order. If you don't indicate a preference we will assume you wish to wait for everything to be in stock and we will then ship your order as a single shipment.

Please note that where you have indicated you would like a split delivery for temporarily out of stock items, we reserve the right to modify your shipping charges accordingly where appropriate. Any delivery charges quoted online are based on a complete single delivery. If it doesn't make a significant difference to ourselves in terms of cost we actually probably won't make any adjustment to your shipping charges.

Sometimes, inevitably, comics and books go temporarily out of print, and occasionally permanently so. Where we definitely know it's only a temporary delay of weeks or months until there's a new print run we will indicate this information on the individual product page so you can make an informed decision what to do.

We will also try to promptly completely remove products that have gone permanently out of print, but our website won't allow you to order those anyway. However it may be that upon a rare occasion we are unable to fulfil your order for an item that we believed was either in-stock, or available to us at the time you ordered. In that instance we will contact you directly as quickly as possible, to either arrange a full refund or suggest an alternative.

But please feel free to contact us directly to discuss availability of an item. Plus if you are interested in something you can't see listed but you believe to be in print, please contact us. We are able to instantly check with our suppliers whether items are indeed still in print and available for us to order on your behalf, and if so we will order them for you with pleasure.

Tax Charges

Happily books and comics are currently zero rated for VAT purposes in the UK and hopefully it'll stay that way unless the powers that be fancy another stealth tax grab. Merchandise like clothing, calendars etc. already includes the required VAT in the price displayed for people purchasing within the UK or the EU. All other merchandise orders may well be free of UK VAT.

However please be aware we are not liable for any destination country VAT, sales taxes, import or customs taxes anywhere in the world on anything we sell, Those costs are to be paid by the purchaser / recipient.

Credit Card Security

When you place an order on our website, the debit and credit card numbers you enter are processed on our behalf by an industry leading electronic payments processing service immediately and directly on their heavily protected secure servers. We do not handle your credit card details directly on the Page 45 site, or our internal computer systems. Nor is your banking information transmitted in any way, the transactions simply takes place there and then using their own secure site and systems. Please be assured we at Page 45 take the security of your banking information VERY VERY seriously indeed.

If you choose not to use the secure online payment system, you can still choose to call us on 0115 9508045 (+44 115 9508045 for international customers) between 9am - 6pm Monday to Saturday (and Sundays 10pm - 4pm in December) and we will process the order for you there and then using the chip and pin machine in store. Please be aware if you choose this payment processing option you must call us within 24 hours of placing the order on the site, or it will be automatically cancelled by our systems. This is because we cannot afford to keep stock allocated for someone for any longer than 24 hours when there may be someone else who would wish to purchase it.

Guarantee

We'd love to guarantee your complete satisfaction, but very occasionally customers might have a problem with their order. We do externally inspect every item for tears, dents, dustcover damage etc. before we carefully pack it up for you. What happens sometimes is items have interior faults like badly printed pages. If you find you've received a product like this please let us know immediately, and we will happily replace it free of charge. You will have to return the item to us as we need to send it back to the publisher to prove the problem was a manufacturing one in order to reclaim our costs.

If you think the item you've received isn't the item you ordered for whatever reason (wrongly described on our site or just plain wrong), please contact us immediately and if we agree with you we'll sort out a replacement. Again, you will need to return the incorrect item, although if we're feeling particularly generous on the day we might just let you keep it!

Very very occasionally orders can get damaged due to some in-transit buffoonery. It is almost unheard of because we do pack the items very securely indeed. But if you find your order has arrived damaged, and the exterior packaging is obviously damaged too, please let us know immediately, and we will happily replace it free of charge. You will have to return the item to us as we need to prove to the delivery company that the damaged item exists and that they were at fault to in order to reclaim our costs.

In the event of any problem please have your order number handy when you contact us.

Returns Policy

Your rights to return goods are protected under the EU Distance Selling Directive. You are entitled to cancel your order and return the goods within 7 working days for a full refund, including the cost of delivery. Do this by contacting us by email or telephone and quoting the order number supplied to you. Your refund will be paid within 30 days. You are responsible for the cost and risk of loss or damage when returning the goods, so you should take out enough postal insurance to cover their value. Any goods returned must be in saleable condition.

This cancellation policy does not affect your rights when the goods are damaged upon receipt for whatever reason, or we are at fault - for example, if goods have been wrongly described and that is covered under the Guarantee section.

These terms do apply to your order. We may need to change our terms and conditions in the future, so please do not assume that the same terms will always apply.

None of these terms and conditions affects your legal rights and these are not diminished in any way. If any term is held to be invalid under any applicable statute or rule of law, that term is automatically omitted from the terms to the minimum extent necessary to comply with the law and without affecting the validity or enforceability of the remainder.

Remittance Terms

All payments must be received and authorised before shipment of your goods will take place, unless Page 45 have entered into a specific agreement otherwise with yourselves.
